I went on an errand run around my neighborhood yesterday and thought it’d be a cute idea to conduct them all on foot. Get some fresh air, I thought. Smell some roses. But 20 blocks and 10 mph winds later, my body felt as if it’d gone through a blender.
Wind in the city feels like a tornado simulation of sorts, the towering buildings create vicious vacuums on each narrow street. My hair was spinning, my bag was jerking; if I lifted my foot a little too high off the ground, I’m sure I could’ve been swooped up in the air.
Winter weather after the holidays feels like a dragged-out bit. Santa’s already came, the vacation days have run out—it’s time to pack up all this cold nonsense!
I returned home after getting beat up by the sky’s invisible forces and unzipped my puffer jacket in wobbly defeat. As I hung it up in my closet, I caught a glimpse of my favorite summer dress. Strappy, simple—a warm summer night out classic.
